RIYADH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
Montegrappa, the brand famous for making the world’s most expensive pen (sold at an auction in Hong Kong for USD $8.5M), has something very special planned for the American Express World Luxury Expo in Riyadh.
Montegrappa has been manufacturing exclusive writing instruments since 1912, in the same historic building in Bassano Del Grappa, North East Italy.
Incidentally, in 1912 the last Chinese dynasty, Qing ceased to exist. The symbol of the Qing dynasty was the Dragon.
In 2012 Montegrappa celebrated its 100 years since inception and to mark the date, the company produced the Centennial Dragon series, limited to 100 units only – 33 units in rose gold, 33 in yellow gold, 33 in white gold and one unique piece called the Ultimate Centennial Dragon.
The design of Montegrappa’s Centennial Dragon, and in particular of the Ultimate Centennial Dragon draws inspiration from the Nine Dragon Wall of the Forbidden City in Beijing.
This one-of-a-kind peice of art is made of 300gms of solid gold, studded with flawless diamonds, rubies and pearl and will only be available for private viewing in the American Express Salon Prive.
The buyer of the Ultimate Centennial Dragon will be offered a VIP factory tour by a member of the Aquila family to view the manufacturing of the pen followed by lunch or dinner with members of the board including F1 racing driver, Jean Alesi (who is a Montegrappa’s shareholder).
The price will include first class air fare.
